There are two primary methods we use to determine a deposit amount: (1) if gas has previously been used at the location, we use the highest amount of 60 days bills; (2) if gas has not been used at the location, we estimate the highest amount of 60 days bills based on the gas load.
We read all meters at the end of each month, therefore, you should expect to receive a bill around the beginning of the each month. Payment is due upon receipt. Failure to pay the full amount by the 20th of the month following consumption will result in a late fee being added to your account.
If you smell natural gas, exit the location immediately and call our office. Natural gas has special odorants added which produce a strong sulfuric smell (some describe it as “rotten eggs”).
There are several ways to make your gas payment. The easiest method is to sign up for bank drafting. If you choose to have your checking account drafted, we will automatically deduct the amount of your gas bill around the 10th of each month. You will also receive a bill indicating the amount to be drafted prior to the actual draft. You may also make payment in person at our office, by mail, or on our Pay Your Bill page. Lastly, you may pay through our convenient budget payment plan, which allows you to pay the same amount for gas each month. We review the account in February to make an adjustment up or down if necessary, and we reconcile the budget payments versus actual bills each June.
The first step is to contact the person who normally does the work on your appliances. For your convenience we have provided a list of contractors in our area.
First and foremost check your corresponding monthly bill from the previous year. Be sure to check the consumption. Many people make the mistake of checking the dollar amount of the previous year’s bill. This is misleading because the prices fluctuate from year to year. The units we use to measure gas, however, do not fluctuate. If you are concerned that your consumption is unusually high, please call our office.
