The first step in setting up natural gas service is to call our office at (276) 632-5662 to find out if gas is available in your area. If natural gas is not available in your area, consider using propane gas for your energy needs. Not only is it efficient, it is also similar to natural gas because it is better for the environment.
If natural gas is available in your area, the next step is to determine if natural gas service already exists at your residence. Many times a previous occupant has requested, and we have installed, the piping necessary for natural gas. If this is the case, then all you need to do is fill out a contract for natural gas service. You may be required to put up a deposit based on the amount of gas previously consumed at that location.
If you do not have a service line at your residence, we are ready to install one. We will provide up to 200 feet of service line at no charge, but some restrictions apply, so please call or visit our office for full details. In order to have a service line installed, you are required to sign two forms. The first gives us the right to install pipes at your property, and the second states that you will begin consuming natural gas within 6 months of the completion of your service line installation. After these two forms have been completed, natural gas service will be available at your residence in 2-3 weeks.
Once you have started consuming natural gas, the only issue left for discussion is billing. At each location where we provide natural gas, we install a meter that measures the amount of gas you have consumed and therefore, the amount of gas for which we should bill you. Once this information is entered into our system, your bill is generated and delivered to you. The price that you pay for natural gas is not determined by our company, since we are a regulated public utility and therefore have a fixed pricing system. Customers will notice a significant price change when a wholesale price fluctuation occurs on a regional or even national level. For the most part, however, natural gas prices remain fairly consistent.
